Why do people say goodbye?

4. When trust has been broken

When you do things with people that trust too much, be careful of your moves with them, because little mistake could change the whole story. They want things done the way it should be done and when it should be done and where it should be done, no alterations. They want you to follow them the way they want you to follow them, whether you're hurting or not, they don't care.

So when you shift from any of their desired pattern just to get the required results, they felt unsafe. Next is to suspect you, followed by distrust.

When people's trust in you has been broken, they'll call off the relationship and/or friendship. They'll stay very far. 

Saying goodbye is very easy for those that trust too much(fast), because they always feel unsafe. And as they trust easily, they withdraw easily too. They can abandon you at the middle of the storm and disappear, without looking back, when they feel disappointed.

Conclusion:

When you see someone that always point out people's faults and also complain about people, know that s/he has is the one that actually has fault.
