Here's My Take:
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MINISTERIAL DIRECTION:
It Helps a Minister Handle Criticism. Ministry comes with criticism. Some criticism should be ignored. Some should be answered. Some should be learned from.
Without direction, a minister may either become unnecessarily defensive or become controlled by people's opinions.
It Helps Prevent Doctrinal and Spiritual Drift. A minister must continually examine what he believes, teaches, and practices.
Being in ministry for many years does not automatically guarantee continued accuracy.
It Helps You Know When to Move. There are times when God says stay, and there are times when God says go.
A minister can remain too long in a place because of familiarity, attachment, comfort, or fear of starting again.
Conclusion:
Direction teaches you which voices deserve attention. Direction keeps a minister anchored in Scripture and sensitive to the Holy Spirit. And direction gives clarity for transitions.
