Here's My Take: 

Why do people say goodbye?

1. When they're not engaged or when they're over engaged.

Over engagement is an abuse; whether for marriage, in ministry, in business, etc. Even as parents, when you over labour a particular child, he'll surely turn stubborn child.

Still on ministry, the Church is owned by God and not man. His will everyone will follow, whether you like it or not. He wants us to make disciples of 'all' nation. Making of this/these disciples requires dispatch of potentials, and not holding them.

There's this story I heard about one Senior Pastor that I loved so much. And I'd told it once here.

This Pastor had a young vibrant Pastor under him that was so gifted and anointed, yet very humble and submissive. When the time for him to leave and start his own came, he told his boss. The S. Pastor said no. The young Preacher didn't know that he was on trial. But because he was sincere, honest and righteous, he didn't fell the test. 

After several months or so, his boss came down to his Church. As a senior Pastor, everyone was in attendance; the Church itself was very big and its location was wow. The Pastor came and admonished them and told the ushers to go and dig out the Church signpost and bring it to him at the alter. They did, he told the Church that from today, this Church ceases to belong to him. That he's using everyone and everything there to settle the young Preacher. He told the members never to try leaving that Church to join him. He prayed for him and left with his signpost.

Conclusion:

There's this Igbo adage that says "he that took a child's thing(toy) and raise his hand so that the child's hand won't reach it, will surely bring it down when that hand start paining him".

Whether you like it or not you must release what you're holding.
