Here's My Take:
There's one thing I learnt from King David in the Bible, when the Ark of God was brought back in Israel, the Bible said "When he had finished his sacrifices, David blessed the people in the name of the Lord. Then all the people returned to their homes, and David turned and went home to bless his own family. 1 Chronicles 16:2, 43
King David understood the importance of God's Blessings. He understood that that moment he blessed the people of Israel he was actually not the one blessing them but God. Therefore, he took the advantage and extend it to his family. If he had finished blessing the people and returned home to party with his family, then his family would never had been blessed.
God will not force his blessings on him and his household, if him(David) didn't do the needful.
For God is a principled person and he allow some things to follow the rules. And David knew that, he went home and blessed his own home. And they were blessed.
Conclusion:
If you have access to riches and you blow it away, you'll remain poor forever. This one has no second chance.
