22. It Helps You Identify Mentors and People to Learn From.
Relationship Direction is not only about friendship. There are people you should learn from, people you should walk with, people you should serve, and people you should simply respect from a distance. Recognizing these categories is wisdom.
There is no human being who does not have someone he or she is learning from or copying something from. There are two types of mentorship: direct mentorship and indirect mentorship. Many people are experiencing indirect mentorship without even realizing it. As long as someone's life, actions, reactions, attitudes, behavior, or character is having an impact on your life, that person is influencing you in some way.
But because of pride and ego, some people refuse to acknowledge it. Sometimes, you may literally tutor a person, and when that person eventually becomes a powerful voice, he or she will deny having anything to do with you.
Someone does not need to officially assume the position of a mentor in your life before he or she can make an impact on your life. Mentorship can happen through observation, association, exposure, and even imitation.
Conclusion:
Relationship Direction teaches us not to deny what we have learned, who we learned it from, or where we learned it.
Acknowledging those who influenced your growth does not reduce your greatness; it shows gratitude, maturity, and integrity.
