Topic: Don’t Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
“Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!”
Here’s My Take:
Why People Pity Jonah:
1. Relationship:
We have been able to establish that it is very difficult to believe and accept that someone related to us could be a Jonah—especially when that person is a family member. This is because Jonah looked innocent while he was on board the ship, and everyone was deceived by his appearance. Listen to this story.
There is a story of a lady who was living with her wealthy brother. He was the breadwinner of the house and took good care of her financially. However, the lady began to experience serious spiritual attacks, which eventually led her to church. When the source of her problem was traced, it was discovered that the same brother she was living with was responsible.
It turned out that all her other siblings had died, and even one or both of her parents were gone, leaving only her and this brother. When she was told the truth, she refused to accept it. Even after explanations were given about how the others had died, she still did not believe it. The reason was simple: he was her brother, and he had been financially supportive. She later accepted the truth when certain hidden things that happened to her while living in his house were revealed.
Conclusion:
Men and brethren, the world we live in—and the hearts of men—are full of wickedness. People may look like sheep, but they are actually wolves.
Song:
My heart, My mind
My soul belongs to You
My love, My life
It all belongs to You
Belongs to You
Prayer:
Lord may every hidden Jonah in my life and family be exposed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
