Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
3. Delay:
I said yesterday that I always advise people: “If you’ve prayed and nothing happened, and you’ve fasted and nothing happened, then check your character — it could be your real problem.” Many people today are experiencing setbacks and assuming someone is bewitching them (which is possible), but they don’t realize that they are the cause of their own problems.
They keep blaming ancestral background or “village people,” not knowing that they are the ones bewitching themselves through their behaviour. I know a sister who is very committed — churchy, spiritual, sisterly — but her character is nothing to write home about. As I speak to you now, the last time I checked, she has had two failed marriages.
In all these failed marriages, the complaint was always the same: her character. Even before she got married, that was her challenge. You see, many people expect others to accept them the way they are, yet they refuse to adjust their character to make that acceptance possible.
Conclusion:
Bad character cannot be managed, no matter who is involved. Bad character can delay you for years in achieving what should have taken only days.
Song:
I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call
Prayer:
Lord, take away every form of Jonah's nature in me. In Jesus. Amen
