A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Here's My Take:
Different Dictionary Definitions(DDD)
This system of calling everybody your friend has led many into serious problem. While some died on it. If the person you called your friend(without having full knowledge of him) is bad, your equally bad in the eyes of everyone that knows him/her. Mind you, whether you recommend/recognize him as your friend or not, once they'd seen you both talking and walking, then you're friends.
I'd heard a story of how an innocent person was killed in the company of his 'bad' friend. He wasn't part of what the guy does, but who will believe that? Just like we were told that everything that swims is a fish. But the truth is not everything that swims is a fish. But it will be hard for anyone to accept, unless the person has seen those animals that are not fish, yet swims.
You can't pull yourself out from such mentality away from people unless you keep a distance from such a person. Know a person very well before you pronounce the friendship. I repeat, know a person very well before pronouncing the Friendship.
Conclusion:
Carefulness is everyone's priority, you don't need to be told before you observe it.
