Topic: The Old Prophet(Who is "The Old Prophet"?) 4

Word: Matthew 23:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4 NIV

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.  They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

Here's My Take:

Who is "The Old Prophet"?

3. They always sit as Judges to pass judgement on everything you did/said:

The Pharisees and the Sadducees are the typical example of men who always sit as Judges to pass judgement on every matter. Not because they are teachers of the Law, but because they saw it as something they're positioned to do. The question is who positioned them? Many times our quest to maintain status quo, has made us to leave the major work we were assigned to do and start going after things; which may be good but not actually our duty. Because of that, many have made themselves the Law and authority.

Just like in Nigeria, one of the reasons behind the Nigeria #EndSARS move, was actually as a result a group of persons deviating from the work they were assigned to do and began to involve themselves into matters, which really need attention, but not their duty. Matters like domestic violence, matters that may require court case or religious tackling are judged by them, etc. Not that they have not done good jobs, they had, but they left their assigned duty to involve themselves into other things that shouldn't be their worry.

Old Prophets sit to debate the affairs of men even spiritual affairs which they don't understand, by relying on their Physical study and knowledge.

Most times they claim to understand, but they don't. This kind of the Old Prophets will always like to see everything, stay everywhere, know everything.

Conclusion:

Jesus is saying to us, “Watch out and be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:6 AMP
