Topic: THE GOLIATH
Word: 1 Samuel 17:4 KJV
“And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”
Here's My Take:
WHO IS THE GOLIATH?
Yesterday we established that GOLIATH was a warlord and also a principality. He wasn't just a physical champion, he had some strange forces backing him up. The Bible says Goliath cursed David by his gods. And said to him “Come here,” “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!” (1 Samuel 17:43-44).
When you look at that statement, it looked ordinary right, just a war statement. But it was not. David understood this, that's why he countered those words immediately.
Word: 1 Samuel 17:45-47 NIV
“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
Conclusion:
What people say to you when they're angry or when they are excited don't take them for granted. Those words came really from their hearts.
Song:
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Prayer:
Lord may the words of my enemies never have any effect on me or on my destiny. In Jesus name. Amen.
