Topic: THE GOLIATH
Word: 1 Samuel 17:4 KJV
“And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”
Here's My Take:
WHO IS THE GOLIATH TO YOU?
1. Champion (1 Samuel 17:4):
Goliath wants everyone around him to know that he is a champion. That's one of the ways he will make his enemies to be afraid of him.
Recall that the Bible says for forty days:
Word: 1 Samuel 17:8-11 NIV
“Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, ‘Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me. If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.’ On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified.”
When a Goliath knows or has more skills than you, he will use that to oppress you; he will mock you and make jest of everything you do. He doesn't believe anyone will do better if not him. And if you must do it better it must come through him. He wants to be recognized.
Conclusion:
Don't let the voice or attitude of Goliath terrify you, he's just a giant, not a god.
