Topic: THE GOLIATH
Word: 1 Samuel 17:4 KJV
“And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”
Here's My Take:
WHO IS THE GOLIATH?
GOLIATH is a familiar word in Christianity. I don't think that there's anybody who is a Christian that haven't heard that word, Goliath before. The name and it's character it's so obvious that people can literally imagine who he was and how he looked like. According to the Scripture, Goliath was a giant, over nine feet(9ft) tall. The bronze coat on his body weighed 125 pounds. He was one of, if not, the tallest man in his days. He was a warlord, who started fighting when he was young.
Why his name became so significant was not just because of the things I mentioned above. But because of the event that surrounded his death. Who defeated him and how he was defeated gave him the popularity we know today. If he was defeated by a fellow giant, the story won't have carried so much weight.
But because the person that defeated him was not a giant, he was not an adult, he was not a warrior, he was not a king. But a teenager, a boy with zero experience of war; these made the story gain more weight.
Conclusion:
In the giantness of a Giant lies his weakness, if it can be traced.
Song:
but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou bidd'st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Prayer:
Lord help me to defeat every Goliath that has come to trouble my life. Amen.
