THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MINISTERIAL DIRECTION:
Ministerial Direction Helps You Know Your Measure. Every minister has a measure of grace and an area of assignment. Not every minister is called to do everything.
Paul said, “We will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us.” — 2 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
Direction helps a minister know the boundaries of his assignment.
It helps protect the minister's personal life. Ministry should not destroy: family, integrity, relationships, personal devotion, or emotional stability.
A person can succeed publicly and fail privately. That is not true ministerial success.
Many people know how to start a church, ministry, organization, or movement. Far fewer know how to build it properly, maintain it, transition it, and eventually hand it over.
It teaches accountability.
A minister who cannot receive correction is dangerous to himself and potentially dangerous to those he leads.
Direction requires humility enough to say: “I may be gifted, but I still need counsel.”
Conclusion:
Ministerial Direction is not only about how to start ministry; it is about how to sustain it.
Starting is exciting. Sustaining requires wisdom. Knowing what God has not called you to do is as important as knowing what He has called you to do.
