Here's My Take:
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MINISTERIAL DIRECTION:
Calling is not the same as direction. A person can genuinely be called and still mishandle the calling because they lack direction. A genuine calling without proper direction can become a genuine calling poorly managed.
Gift is not enough. A gift can attract people, but character, wisdom, discipline, and direction are what help sustain ministry. Gift may announce a minister, but direction helps preserve the minister.
Ministerial Direction teaches timing. Knowing what God wants you to do is important, but knowing when to do it is equally important. Doing the right thing at the wrong time can produce the wrong result.
It teaches ministerial boundaries. Not every problem is your assignment. Not every invitation is your assignment. Not every open door is your door. A minister needs to know what to accept, what to decline, and what to leave for others.
It helps prevent competition. When a minister understands his or her assignment, there is less need to compete with another minister. You don't need another person's pulpit, style, audience, or assignment. Direction eliminates unnecessary competition because you become too focused on your assignment to envy another person's assignment.
Conclusion:
The goal of Ministerial Direction is not merely to help a person start an assignment, but to help them walk faithfully, wisely, and effectively until the assignment is fulfilled.
