7. It helps us distinguish love from compatibility.
You can love someone and still recognize that you are not compatible for a particular relationship. Love does not automatically mean that every relationship should be pursued.
8. It teaches conflict management.
Relationships will inevitably experience disagreements. Relationship direction helps us know when to speak, when to listen, when to correct, when to forgive, and when to walk away.
9. It teaches us how to maintain valuable relationships.
Making a good friend is one thing; keeping a meaningful relationship requires communication, sacrifice, loyalty, understanding, forgiveness, and consistency.
