HOW WE RECEIVE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
God gives direction through:
3. Inner conviction: This is for people who have an active spirit. One good thing about being a child of God is that your spirit is connected to the Spirit of God. Once you give your life to Christ, your spirit links up with the Spirit of God, just like switching on your Wi-Fi to connect to the internet. It is then left to you to remain connected or become disconnected.
It is the Spirit of God who speaks to our spirit without us hearing an audible voice. Have you ever heard someone say, "I felt it strongly in my spirit"? That is the inner conviction—God speaking to us through our spirit.
Real Life Testimony:
A woman shared a testimony in my church a few Sundays ago. She told us that she was standing near a roundabout while her husband was on a phone call a few feet away from her.
As she stood there, she felt a strong urge in her spirit to leave that spot. She tried to call her husband's attention to it, but he was occupied with the call. Suddenly, a car with failed brakes came speeding toward them. She shouted, "Jesus!" and by God's mercy, both she and her husband were saved. The car came to a halt right at the spot where they were standing.
Conclusion: This is one of the most confusing ways God gives spiritual direction. It often does not come with an audible voice or visible sign—just a strong conviction within. It usually takes someone who has experienced it repeatedly to recognize it and trust it whenever it comes.
