THE DIRECTION
Word: Isaiah 30:21 NIV
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Here's My Take:
3. Career Direction: One of the challenges many people face is making career choices out of envy, comparison, or jealousy. What do I mean? Many people choose careers because of what others have achieved, not because of what they themselves are capable of doing.
Someone may decide to study Medicine simply because a friend is studying it, or because that is what the family is known for. Another person may choose a particular career because it is the family line of business. Others choose careers just to break records or gain recognition—for example, becoming the first or only person of a particular gender in their community to enter that profession.
This is one reason why many people in professional careers perform below their potential or lack fulfillment in their work: they pursued their parents’ dreams instead of their own purpose and passion.
Conclusion: Career direction should be guided by parents, not imposed by them. Parents should help their children discover their strengths, interests, and potential, while allowing them the freedom to pursue careers that align with their abilities and purpose.
Song:
There is a longing, only You can fill
A raging tempest, only You can still
My soul is thirsty Lord
To know You as I'm known,
Drink from the river
That flows before Your throne
Take me deeper, Deeper in love with You
Jesus hold me close in Your embrace
Take me deeper, Deeper than I've ever been before
I just want to love You more and more
How I long to be deeper in love
Prayer:
Oh Lord help us to choose a career that will impact our world. In Jesus name, Amen.
