Here’s My Take:
HOW TO KNOW A PHARISEE:
4. Someone who is scared of being replaced: It is only a man who is worthless that will not have people who are scared of his existence. Jesus is worthy. His appearance made the religious leaders see their own worthlessness. He was busy doing His Father’s business, while the religious leaders were running helter-skelter. His presence made them uncomfortable.
This reminds me of something that happened a few years ago at my workplace. In fact, I didn’t understand what was going on at first. But I noticed that one of my colleagues became like a bee on my forehead. He was reporting me here and there, and I didn’t know. It was his report that made my team leader change my shift.
If people were attending to something and I wasn’t there, he wouldn’t say anything. But whenever he saw my boss, he would start saying, “Nnamdi always likes to dodge work. Where is he now? He won’t come and work.”
I never knew why he was doing that until the day I was told that my boss asked an unethical question. He would ask between two people who was more active. He asked between me and that guy, “Who is more active?”
So the guy, hearing that, decided to make my boss see me as inactive. Yet his mission failed. There were many other things he did, but time will fail me to mention them all.
Conclusion:
It is obvious that your presence can be a threat to those around you. Just keep your hands clean, hold your head high, and focus on your job. Their mission will surely fail.
