“The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.
Here’s My Take:
Jesus Encounter With The Pharisees:
Jesus spoke a parable about a man that planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But they beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, they rough handled him. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.
“Then the owner of the vineyard said, I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ “But when they saw his son, they said ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!” Luke 20:9-16 NIV
One thing about the Pharisees is that they knew the truth. They knew when a parable was directed at them, and they could interpret it correctly. The problem was that they chose to ignore and disregard the truth they heard. Instead of embracing it, they fought the source of the truth.
Conclusion:
The attitude of the Pharisees can be compared to my country’s politicians. They see the truth and deliberately turn it upside down. They fight good governance and any good governor who does not support their greed and selfish interests, using every lie within their reach and every available means—especially social media.
Song:
When I don't know what to do
cnd I look up to You
For which way to go
You never fail me
You are the God who can never fail
You don't know what it means to fail
Everything on the earth may fail
But You can never ever fail
Prayer:
Lord may we not possess the attitude of the Pharisees. In Jesus name. Amen.
