Don't Pity Jonah!

Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!

Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT

Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!

Here's My Take:

What Jonah stands for…

8. Someone who prefers to lose than to help others/someone: These are the “over my dead body” kind of people. You may have seen people who constantly swear with their lives, saying, “Over my dead body.” Avoid such people, because their hearts are often filled with wickedness.

These are the kind of people who insist on their own way without considering other opinions. They want everything to end exactly as they have said, without minding whether someone else is being affected or hurt. A young man once wanted to marry a girl, and his mother opposed it. He insisted on going ahead, but his mother said, “Over my dead body will I allow that to happen.”

This Jonah was audacious, and she meant every word she said. But God heard her. She died, and today the young man and the woman are married with three children.

Conclusion:

The audacity of this kind of Jonah makes them careless about the effects and outcomes of their words. Many people have died because they insisted that their desires must prevail at all costs. And that is who Jonah is.

Song:

My heart, My mind

My soul belongs to You

My love, My life

It all belongs to You

Belongs to You

Prayer:

May God silence every audacity of Jonah against us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
