Topic: Don’t Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
“Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!”
Here’s My Take:
Why People Pity Jonah:
We are told, “Don’t pity Jonah,” yet we have discovered that regardless of the situation surrounding Jonah—and despite the tragedy he brings—some people will still pity him. So, why do people pity Jonah?
1. Relationship:
This is one of the strongest reasons people pity Jonah. Who easily accepts that someone related to them is a Jonah and should be thrown out? Personally, I wouldn’t. Imagine loving and valuing the people around you, only to be told that one of them is a Jonah.
Walahi, it won’t be easy to accept. But the truth remains: whether we accept it or not, Jonah can be found anywhere—at the workplace, in the family, in the compound, in business circles, and so on. What we should focus on is not denial, but discernment—how to identify and understand who Jonah truly is.
To be continued…
Conclusion:
The way you love and value Jonah is not the way Jonah loves and values you.
Know this—and you will know peace.
Song:
My heart, My mind
My soul belongs to You
My love, My life
It all belongs to You
Belongs to You
Prayer:
Lord may every hidden Jonah in my life and family be exposed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
