Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands for…
8. Someone who prefers to lose than to help others/someone: Jonah represents people who would rather lose than allow someone else to benefit. These kinds of people still exist in our world today—and, sadly, they are some of the strangest people I have ever encountered.
Something happened years ago in a certain place. There was an extended family living in a large compound. One of the families was well-off, while the others were struggling. One day, the wealthy family hosted a big event and slaughtered many cows. After serving the guests, there were plenty of leftovers. Instead of sharing some with the struggling families, they kept the meat until it decayed. Only then did they bring it out for others to share.
Jonah chose to flee to Tarshish at the expense of Nineveh. He preferred running away to helping people who needed salvation. The needs of others did not concern him. He only responded under pressure—when he had no other option.
Conclusion:
This kind of Jonah can never be a destiny helper. Anyone who depends on him will starve—not because help is unavailable, but because he refuses to help.
Song:
Thank You
Thank You very much
You are the Savior with the spiritual touch
Praise You
Praise Your holy Name
Since You touched my life I′ll never be the same
Prayer:
May God help us not to depend on anybody. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
