Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands for…
8. Someone who prefers to lose than to help others/someone: this one is funny. Jonah stands for someone/people that prefer to lose than to help others/someone. Have you met those kinds of people in your life before? Before we talk about them, let’s look at Jonah first.
God told Jonah, “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.” But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to Tarshish, hoping to escape from the Lord. Jonah 1:2–3.
Even when God threatened him, he preferred to die than go to preach to Nineveh. Also, after God saved and forgave him and sent him the second time, he got angry because they repented and God forgave them. Jonah preferred to lose than to help Nineveh come out of their sins.
Conclusion:
When you have this type of Jonah in your life, sorry is your name. Because s/he will block every gap fresh air will come your way. But God no go shame us.
Song:
Thanks, thanks, I give you thanks
For all you've done
I am so blessed, my soul has found rest
Oh Lord, I give You thanks
Prayer:
May God help us to overcome. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
