Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands for…
7. Pretender: Just like we said yesterday, we see Jonahs every day around us. We meet with them, we interact with them, we do business with them, and live in the same neighborhood with them. Virtually, there's no place you won't find Jonah. And they will always pretend to be part of you, just to get what they want. After that, their true nature will show.
Every Nigerian will remember this. During the 2023 Nigerian General Election, there was a movement unlike anything Nigeria had ever witnessed. The only thing that came close to it was the 1993 General Election. This movement attracted many candidates—the good, the bad, and the ugly—into a particular political party. All of them pretended to be good people.
During the election, almost everyone who emerged under that party was voted for, with the mindset that they were all like the party’s presidential flag bearer. But less than two years after winning their various positions, many of them defected to the ruling party to hide—because they knew their deeds were evil and would eventually be exposed.
Conclusion:
No Jonah has good intentions. All they care about is themselves. Even if the whole world suffers, they don’t care—as long as it favors them. What a people!
Song:
possesing the gate of the enemy
taking territories for God
conquering the land of the heathen
overrunning the earth for God
that is our call
that is our aim
that is our destiny
that’s our life
Prayer:
May God help us to replace all the Jonahs in the positions of authority. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
