Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
2. Deception:
The Bible says: “Then the crew cast lots to see which of them had offended the gods and caused the terrible storm. When they did this, the lot identified Jonah as the culprit.”
That means after the captain finished speaking with Jonah, he came up to join the others — yet he still didn’t open up. They had asked him to pray to his God for help, but he refused, knowing that God was after him. Still, he kept that truth to himself.
He waited until they started casting lots, and even then, he said nothing. Maybe he thought the lots wouldn’t expose him. But surprisingly, he was caught red-handed.
Hear me — Jonah knows the problem but won’t say anything. Jonah knows all is not well with you — your health, your business, your peace — yet he acts as though everything is fine.
Conclusion:
I ask again today, can you picture this Jonah scenario? Now imagine you’re one of those who have lost their fortune trying to save the situation, only to realize that the real cause of the problem has been right there, looking at you.
Me: Hmmmmm…
Song:
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain:
O precious is the flow
that makes me white as snow;
no other fount I know;
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to fish out every Jonah around us. In Jesus. Amen.
