There's this adage from my tribe, Igbo, that says "anaghi eto nwata n'ihu ya". It literally means that you don't praise a child in his/her presence. No matter how good or beautiful or handsome, etc, a child is, you don't tell it to his/her face. You don't say that in their presence.

Reason is, that kind of praises gets into their head, making them misbehave. Not every child can hear all those adoration and still bend. It makes them proudful, arrogant and full of themselves. I can count for you the number of persons such praises led into the wrong lifestyle, some even died along the line.

Conclusion:

Praises and adorations gets into the soul of a person. It can make a person high. Now ask yourself, why is God interested in the Praises and adorations of His creation?! The Praises he receives from His creation makes Him The Most High...
