He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

4. King Solomon: One thing we should know is that God doesn't give instructions without a reason. God told King Solomon not to marry foreign women, so that they will not turn her heart to idols. He romantically ignored that instruction. The women he got for himself finished his heart.
My people will always say "something must kill a man". In all Solomon's Wisdom as a Great King yet he succumbed to the leisure of foreign women.
Not only that, his choices affected majority of his decisions. Because of his decisions he made life difficult for people due to heavy taxes and other givings. His recommendation birthed wrong choices. I believe he had advisers while he was gathering those 1000 women. Yet he wasn't counselled well.
Conclusion:
In the multitude of counsel there's safety only when our counselors are good and Godly people
