He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)

Here's My Take:

Cause of Long-sightedness:

2. the lens inside the eye is unable to focus properly: this is for natural Long-sightedness. But for Spiritual long-sighted people, those lenses inside their consciousness will never focus properly on the people around them. Because they were not built for those around them, but those far away. Because that's where their interests are.

Since their interest have always been on others, without taking cognizance of those around them. They won't see the weaknesses those ones around them.

Even when wicked things are happening under their noses(roof) they won't notice. How will they know, since all their attentions are focused on people, looking for God knows what?!

Conclusion:

Many homes today are not worthy of emulation. Because most of them used the time they would have used to focus on their families and be looking for faults on other people's homes.
