It's not obvious that some persons have lost their partners to some of their friends. Because of closeness. Having someone as their friends, trusting them unconditionally not knowing that it will be disastrous. Stories have been told of how Chief bridesmaids have taken over, after marriage, leaving the brides heartbroken.
I saw a report online how a friend took his best friend's wife. I remembered seeing a whole lot of such persons here. What a shame!
Stories like that have popped fear in the minds of lots of persons, they chose to take precautions, to avoid being the next scape goat.
So, because of the fear of not loosing their partners, they drop their friends or probably avoid them. Who will hear and see these things, yet continue keeping friendships around after marriage, unless that person knows the kind of partner s/he has.
Conclusion:
Never forget...a "friend" is someone that knows you very well, someone you can trust,....etc.
So before you call someone your friend, ask yourself your reasons for doing that
