Here's My Take: 

Why do people say goodbye?

1. When they're tired of you:

When people get used to those things that pinned them to their Churches, they'll leave. They won't leave to stop attending service, they'll leave to enter into another Church to see new things.

Sorry to say this, if I should say, I'll say that this is one of the reasons why Roman Catholic Church brought in so many things(assumed Pentecostal activities) that were not in their Church before or some of those activities they rejected before.

Things like praying in tongues, open crusade, ministry, Renewal, etc, just to keep her members from leaving. And they so modernized them to make them look more attractive. One man looked at these changes, he couldn't bear it, he told one Pastor that if there were Renewal during their time, he wouldn't have left. Because of these innovations, people hardly leave that Church again. I stand to be corrected..

Please this is not to attack Catholic Church or any other body. It was used to show how to make members not to get tired of their Church, prompting them to leave easily.

Same way many Pentecostal brought in many activities, with several artists performing just to stop their members from saying goodbye.

Conclusion:

Whether you answer re-formed, renewed, restructured, revived, later day, when you don't bring in things(Power of God, God's presence, etc) that will keep people, they'll leave.
