Yesterday, we were told that when relating to your mentor, boss, or spiritual leader, there are boundaries that must be respected. I want us to understand that, no matter how sweet and beautiful the relationship between a child and his or her parent may be, there are boundaries that must be maintained as well.
Keeping boundaries does not mean being mean or distant. It is not an absence of love or tenderness. Rather, it creates room for mutual respect and understanding. It helps both the parent and the child maintain control over the things they do and say to each other.
These boundaries also create room for curiosity and learning. They make a child want to know more and encourage the child to learn as he or she grows.
A parent does not release every piece of information to a child at once. As the child grows and becomes more mature, the parent gradually reveals more, and the child learns to understand things according to his or her level of maturity.
Conclusion:
Boundaries do not destroy love; they help love grow with wisdom, respect, and maturity.
