HOW WE RECEIVE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
God gives direction through:
5. Wise counsel: this is another means of getting Spiritual Direction. Many people today are living their dreams today because of the advice they got. This Wise counsel is not restricted to any age or gender. It can come from anyone. God in his wisdom distributed his wisdom to us to enable us assist each other when the need arises.
You remember that it was a servant counsel that healed Naaman the mighty man's Leprosy in 2 Kings Chapter 5. When Naaman went to meet Prophet Elisha and he was told to go and jump to the river seven times and he refused. It was still the counsel of that servant girl that saved him from Leprosy. 2 Kings 5:13-14 NIV
You remember also Jethro Moses father in-law's wise counsel in Deuteronomy Chapter 18? Moses was at the stage of exhaustion, with so many cases to handle per day. Jethro told him to appoint trustworthy, God-fearing leaders to handle minor matters, while the most difficult cases will come to him. And it was recorded as wise counsel.
Conclusion: Wise counsel is like salt in a soup; it makes a tremendous impact in the life of anyone who receives it. There are people whose lives would have advanced far beyond where they are today if they had adhered to the counsel they received.
