There are people who, because of their desperation to hear or get a response, will not believe the truth even when it is told to them. In order to satisfy them, people sometimes resort to lying.
Example:
A desperate mother who longs to carry her grandchildren may refuse to accept the truth if she is told that either her son or daughter-in-law is unable to have children due to certain issues. To avoid upsetting her, her son may tell her that his wife has been experiencing miscarriages—which is a lie.
There are people who will not accept what you tell them unless it is wrapped in a lie. We see this happen daily in workplaces and other areas of life.
This is one reason lying still has a foothold in society.
This is not to encourage lying, but to help us understand that fear is often one of its roots. Until we overcome fear, we may continue to find reasons to lie.
