Characteristics of a "Modern-Day Pharisee":

6. Lack of Mercy: Another character of modern-day Pharisees is a lack of mercy.

Do you remember the story of the woman caught in the act of immorality? Those who brought her forward included the Pharisees. Interestingly, they left the man involved and chose to publicly parade the woman instead. That same attitude is still present today.

Modern-day Pharisees often handle similar situations without mercy. Look at how cases of immorality are treated in the Church—especially when a believer falls. The way such matters are spread and discussed can be heartbreaking. When you listen to some of those who have gone through it, you can’t help but feel deep sorrow.

I once shared with a church that the most publicized sin is sexual immorality. A leader may lie, hate, or even act unjustly, and it may not gain much attention. But once it involves sexual sin, it becomes headline news, and the consequences can follow the person for a lifetime.

Conclusion:

Modern-Day Pharisees do not show mercy, especially when that person is at their mercy. Because they like dealing with people.
