The reason why we have so many back and forth Christians-- unserious -- today is because of the above Scripture. The reason why few people have given up in their quest to pursue God is because of that Scripture.
The worst are those that left Christianity for any other thing.
The truth is that there's never been anyone that sought the Lord with his/her heart that never found Him.
Be serious, then you shall find Him.
