Here’s My Take:
Jesus Encounter With The Pharisees:
Still on John 12:1-11 NLT. Which told us a story of how the Pharisees decided to kill Lazarus. Because his living was a threat to their relevance. They need to remove him on the way. Because as long as he lives, Jesus will visit. And the more Jesus visits, the more the people will desert them to follow Jesus. This attitude of the Pharisees is not far from the current reality. Now is even worse.
The fight for membership and physical relevance has made most of the Churches unaccountable of their members. Yes I know that the higher the Church grows the more difficult it will be to know about all the members. But where there are well planned strategies, this won't be an issue. The fight for membership can affect the services of the two Churches. Especially when they're very close
I know of two Churches that their members doesn't talk to each other, even in the market. Just because of this issue. There are these two Churches that are very close to each other, they'll carry their loudest speakers and face them at each other. Just to punish and distract themselves. All because of this same issue. May God help His Church.
Conclusion:
One fight I can never imagine fighting, is the fight of membership. Even if I'm drunk. No matter the Church I belong to, I will surely respect and regard those in other Churches. Irrespective of their mode of operation. I don't need to accept their style, but I have to respect that.
