Luke 11:37-
The Bible said "one of the Pharisees invited him home for a meal. So he went in and took his place at the table. His host was amazed to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony required by Jewish custom. Luke 11:37-38 NLT
One of the reasons many biblical rituals are no longer practiced in today’s Church is not because they were not holy or helpful, but because they became burdensome to the body of Christ. Imagine if, before taking Holy Communion in places like Glory Dome or other large churches, every worshipper had to perform ceremonial hand washing. A single Sunday service would stretch into Monday; multiple services would run into midweek.
The Pharisees prefer laws that are burdensome, that laws that will help the soul of a man. They loved regulations that oppressed people rather than truths that restored them. That is exactly why Jesus responded to them the way He did. As stated in our conclusion.
Conclusion:
Then the Lord said to him, “You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and wickedness!Fools! Didn’t God make the inside as well as the outside? So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over. Luke 11:39-41 NLT
