THE PHARISEES:

Topic: THE PHARISEES

Word: Matthew 23:2 NLT
“The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.

Here’s My Take:

Jesus Encounter Me The Pharisees:
Luke 13:10-17

One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!

But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.”

When you hear someone speaking to you out of envy, you will know. Everything he or she says will be filled with bitterness. The Pharisees’ complaints were not really about the Sabbath; they were rooted in the bitterness of their hearts. Their reactions clearly showed that they already had a problem with Jesus. Bitterness always looks for an excuse to speak, but the real issue is the heart.

Conclusion:
A Pharisee is someone who is threatened by your boldness and audacity and is constantly looking for a way to silence you—even when they know you are right.

Song:
Every tongue in Heaven and Earth
Shall declare Your Glory
Every knee will bow at Your feet
In Worship
You be Exalted Oh Lord
And Your Kingdom shall not pass away
Oh Ancient of Days

Prayer:
Lord, may I not reason and act like the Pharisees. In Jesus name. Amen.
