Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands for…
7. Pretender: One interesting thing about this topic is that we see Jonahs every day around us. We meet with them, we interact with them, we do business with them, and live in the same neighborhood with them. Virtually, there's no place you won't find Jonah. This is why the Bible warned us: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Eph. 5:11
God knew that in our day-to-day activities, we will surely encounter plenty of Jonahs. Irrespective of the field you find yourself in—medicine, engineering, manufacturing, business, media, ministry, etc.—your own Jonah is already there waiting for you.
What that means is that the kind of Jonah/s you'll find at one field is different to the Jonah at another field, though they have one purpose and mission. But their mode of operation may be varied.
Conclusion:
Who is that Jonah in your ship?! If you don’t get rid of Jonah—avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away—be sure he’ll get rid of you.
Song:
Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love
Prayer:
May God cause every Jonah to avoid us this season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
