Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands for…
7. Pretender: Denominationalism and the high level of religiousness have been one of the reasons why we end up being deceived by Jonah. Imagine finding yourself in the midst of other religions, and you manage to see one person that claims to be one of you. You’ll embrace the person without thinking twice or even asking questions.
The same way, when you come into a place and all you can find are other denominations, when you finally meet someone from your denomination, you may end up throwing yourself to him/her, believing that you both have the same orientation. You may not try to scrutinize him or test whether he is carrying a different spirit.
That energy you invested in him/her may make you trust him/her. But it will shock you when that supposed brother or sister begins to show you that s/he is not what you thought s/he was. Then you’ll realize that you have been dealing with a Jonah all this while without knowing it.
Conclusion:
Trust nobody unless the person has proven otherwise. Your trust must be earned. Stop throwing it to the pigs; they don’t know its value.
Song:
All my life you have been Faithful
All my life you have been so so Good
In every breath that I'm able
I will sing of the Goodness of God
Prayer:
Lord, every Jonah avoid me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
