Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!

Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!

Here's My Take:

What Jonah stands for…

6. Silent Saboteur:
How to know the Silent Saboteur…

c. There are communities that were known for peaceful coexistence. Nobody dragged anything. They shared farm produce according to families. They believed they were brothers. So they shared things starting with the family regarded as the eldest, and continued until it reached the youngest.

They lived like this and maintained this tradition for centuries. Until a Jonah woke up one day and began to drag what was not in contention. Maybe because he suddenly had money, or because he had gained political power. Kingship in Igbo land was originally by inheritance, just like it was in the Bible. But Jonahs came on board and changed the narrative.

And they changed it not for the development of the communities, nor for the good of the people—but for their selfish interests. Remember, before Jonah entered the ship, the sea was calm. After he entered, storms came. In the same way, before these Jonahs were born, everything was normal and peaceful… until they arrived with their greed.

Conclusion:
No community will remain the same with the presence of a Jonah. They cannot stay in a place without inviting unnecessary battles. They are always ready to drag what is not theirs, as long as they hold power.

Song:
I'm on my way
To destiny
I'm on my way
To the promised land
Through the highway
In the Red Sea
Created by
The Lord Most High

Oh Lord You brought me out
So as to take me in
You never brought me out
To leave me halfway
From my captivity
Into my destiny
You brought me out
Lord to take me in

Prayer:
Lord, let every Jonah be cut out of my life and my family. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
