Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
2. Deception: Another thing that Jonah stands for is deception. Jonah knew exactly what he was doing — he was running away from God. If he had told the sailors that he was fleeing from God, they would have been aware on time, and those losses could have been avoided. But he kept everything to himself.
This reminds me of a woman who once lamented over her husband’s high level of deception for more than ten years of their marriage. What happened was that the man had a child with another woman before they got married, but he never told his wife. While they were living together, he brought the little girl into their home, claiming she was his niece. The girl stayed with them for years before his wife finally found out.
And you know, the truth cannot be hidden for long! When his wife discovered the truth, everything was exposed.
What Jonah is hiding from you may be far greater than what you know. The truth is, Jonah knows how badly his actions are going to affect you, but he would rather stay silent than save you from it. Jonah!
That thing going wrong around you may just be the effect of Jonah.
Conclusion:
Many times, we have lost so many things — not because we were careless, but because of the presence of Jonah. And they often act as though they know nothing, even while you’re losing everything.
Song:
Mercy said no
I'm not gonna let you go
I'm not gonna let you slip away
You don't have to be afraid
Mercy said no
Sin will never take control
Life and death stood face to face
Darkness tried to steal my heart away
Thank You Jesus, Mercy said no
Prayer:
Lord, help us to identify every Jonah around us, and may we not be that Jonah also. In Jesus. Amen.
