Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
3. Delay:
You may think we are only referring to the people in the ship as the ones Jonah delayed, but they were not the only ones. What about the people of Nineveh whom Jonah delayed the gospel from reaching on time?
What if someone who should have heard the message of repentance died within the three days Jonah delayed? The delay didn’t affect only the men in the ship — it affected the entire city of Nineveh.
The truth is this: someone’s life is tied to your life. Your actions, choices, speed, and obedience are affecting another person — either positively or negatively. There is always someone who looks up to you, someone drawn to you, someone who follows your example whether you know it or not.
So how you live will determine whether that person moves faster or slower. What a person can achieve or accomplish is often connected to whom they are following. That is why we must be careful about the lives we imitate.
Conclusion:
Everyone has that “Jonah” they are avoiding — because they know that associating with such a person may cost them a fortune. This type of Jonah can be found anywhere, but you will often find them right within your neighborhood.
Song:
And You move mountains
You cause walls to fall
With Your Power
Perform miracles
There is nothing
That's impossible
And we're standing here
Only because You made the way
Prayer:
Lord, save us from associating with Jonah. In Jesus. Amen
