Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
What Jonah stands...
3. Delay:
These men were merchants — men who traded on a large scale. Perhaps they had already spent days gathering their produce and were now set to spend more days at sea before reaching their destination. Then Jonah came aboard.
We know that one of the slowest, if not the slowest, means of transportation is by ship. If other means would take you a day, the ship would take much longer. The arrival of Jonah brought an added delay. Imagine having a slow journey already — and then adding Jonah to it. He came with turbulence that brought everything to a halt.
Be careful who is in your ship if you don’t want to be delayed! Especially if you desire to go far in life. Not everyone is meant to be in your ship. Friendship and companionship are not by force. Yes, we need people to reach our destination — but it mustn’t be everyone.
Conclusion:
No matter how big or small your ship is, don’t give everyone access to it. Your ship represents your life, business, ministry, marriage, and every journey you undertake. Choose wisely who you let in.
Song:
Why should I fear when I have You
Surrounded by Your Love
Your everlasting Love
Why should I care what people say
They don't know what you mean to me
Prayer:
Lord, take away every Jonah on my way. In Jesus. Amen
