Topic: Don't Pity Jonah!
Word: Jonah 1:15 NLT
Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!
Here's My Take:
Intro:
Sometimes, there are things about God that when you see/hear them, you'll want to ponder who He truly is. I have read things about God, I have heard things about Him, and I have also seen and encountered things about Him. But His response to Jonah is worth learning from. The Lord coolly, calmly, gently responds to him. In fact, let's look at it.
Jonah said, “Just kill me now, Lord! I would rather die than live if what I predicted does not happen.” The Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry about this?” (Jonah 4:4 NLT). This response sounds like that scenario where the eldest son will be crying because the father took what he likes and gave it to his younger one.
And as he's crying, their father will call him and speak to him calmly, saying, “You know you're the eldest son, and you know I love you? Just leave it for your younger one, and I will buy something for you next time.” Then the boy nods and leaves. That's how that response from God sounded in my spirit. I don't know about you.
Conclusion:
Truly, God is a Father. He understands us more than we do. Sometimes God responds to us based on how we feel. Yet sometimes He responds to us based on how He feels. That's why He is the Greatest...
Song:
Blessed Jesus what a gesture
It is to give Your life
For the sins of humanity
That was hopelessly lost
A destiny of doom
Was ours before you came
We stand in awe of You
We magnify You Lord
Lord we thank You for Your kindness
In sending us Your Son
Lord we thank You for Your mercy
That took Him to the cross
We thank You for Your love
We thank You for Your grace
We thank You for Your love
We thank You for Your grace
Prayer:
Lord, may we continue to the enjoy Your Fatherly, in Jesus name. Amen.
