Here's My Take:
CATALYST(AS FRIEND): one of the best gift you can have is the gift of good friendship; someone that will be willing to stick around you in few and in plenty. Not someone you'll keep reminding his/her friendly duties, before s/he'll come close.
If you have someone as a friend that won't tell you about opportunities or push you to be in your best, but he'll be quick to call you for a bottle of beer or to watch games; just know that he's not a catalyst. There's this set of people I used to see around me, with their discussions anytime they gather you'll conclude that they're childhood friends.
They're three in number; one is very rich, healthy and drives 4matic Benz, the second guy looks average, while the third guy is very retched(no work, no business). They'll leave their houses and come to any spot near the poor guys house; the rich guy will order drinks. All of them will drink, smoke, crack jokes and go, while the retched guy won't have anything to eat after. Yet they're friends! Tufiakwa!
Conclusion:
Friendship that is not all about total welfare but only eating and drinking isn't friendship.
