Topic: GOOD BYE
Word: Proverbs 23:1-3 KJV
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
Here's My Take:
Intro.
Yesterday we mentioned that there are two ways people say goodbye: verbally and nonverbally. This doesn't end there. We also observed that verbal and nonverbal means of saying goodbye can be done indirectly. That is to say that yesterday we explained how goodbye can be expressed directly.
Indirect Verbal goodbye: words are involved. This is when someone is throwing words randomly without directing it to anybody in particular, but actually was referring to a particular person. For example, when you go to a person's house maybe for a holiday, and you noticed that after a while the person start complaining how things finish so quickly in the house. You don't need to be told that you're being referred to; as an extra burden. And if you're discerning enough, you'll know that it's a goodbye.
Indirect Nonverbal goodbye: this is when one displays strange unbearable attitude towards someone close to you, but not to you in particular. Or doing something(audibly, noisy, etc) that'll indirectly make you uncomfortable.
For example in Igbo Land there's this believe that when you come to a person's house and that person brought out broom and start sweeping. It means you're not welcomed. So when you see such, you don't need another explanation than to take your leave.
Conclusion:
Many a time, we do things thinking that we're doing people, not knowing that we're indirectly doing/hurting ourselves. Just know that any attitude we displayed, right or wrong, indirectly comes back to us. Stop hurting yourself!
Song:
Baruch haba b'shem Adonai
Blessed is He who comes
Baruch haba b'shem Adonai
Who comes in the name of the Lord
Now arise, oh Lord
Come to Your resting place
You and the ark of Your might
Then we will rejoice
As we're clothed with Your righteousness
And celebrate the love
Baruch haba b'shem Adonai
Blessed is He who comes
Baruch haba b'shem Adonai
Who comes in the name of the Lord
Prayer:
Father may I not hurt myself trying to hurt someone else. Amen.
Are you hurting yourself indirectly???
