Topic: THE PHARISEES
Word: Matthew 23:2 NLT
The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.
Here’s My Take:
MODERN DAY PHARISEES:
Characteristics of a "Modern-Day Pharisee":
5. Division & Argument:
One strange thing about Modern-Day Pharisees is that they won't stop until they have divided the Church they're in. And once their mission is completed they'll move over to the next Church with the same approach. That is why it is wise, when receiving new members, try to understand their journey—why they left their previous church, what they learned, and how they are growing. This is not about rejection, but about discernment and healthy integration.
In earlier times, especially in some Pentecostal settings, churches were more intentional about this. They would ask for your previous church, your pastor’s name, and your reason for leaving. In some cases, they even contacted the former church to verify that things were left in good faith before fully integrating the person.
Conclusion:
Growth should not replace wisdom. A healthy church welcomes people—but also guides, discerns, and integrates them in a way that protects unity and preserves peace.
Song:
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
Prayer: May the Lord purge and liberate His Church from the Pharisaic mentality. In Jesus name. Amen.
