Topic: THE PHARISEES

Word: Matthew 23:2 NLT

The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.

Here’s My Take:

MODERN DAY PHARISEES:

Characteristics of a "Modern-Day Pharisee":

5. Division & Argument:
Do you know that any man who can hold his church together can also hold a nation together?

The church is one of the most difficult institutions to lead. Because within the church, you will find different beliefs, ideologies, mindsets, behaviors, characters, tribes, and even races. In fact, everything is represented—the good, the bad, and the challenging. Managing such diversity is very similar to leading a nation.

This is also why it can be easy for Pharisaic attitudes to manipulate the church. The diversity creates room for infiltration—introducing arguments and controversies that can easily lead to division. It is therefore not surprising to see traces of tribalism, racism, and even politics among church members.

The Pharisaic mindset may never completely disappear in our Churches, but it can be handled. No matter how well it is handled, it may still arise again in different forms. However, the ability of a priest or pastor to manage such a mindset without allowing it to escalate means a whole lot, and should be appreciated.

Conclusion:

Do you know that the Church has raised more men than most nations of the world? The Church needs to be appreciated for her efforts.

Song:

It wasn't easy
It wasn't easy
It wasn't easy but it was worth it

Prayer: May the Lord purge and liberate His Church from the Pharisaic mentality. In Jesus name. Amen.
