MODERN DAY PHARISEES:
Characteristics of a "Modern-Day Pharisee":
1. Legalism & Ritualism: Emphasize external observance (rules, traditions, metrics) as the path to righteousness, not inner heart change(copied). Too much tradition is what is hurting the Body of Christ. Every church has its own rules and traditions, different from others. That is why many churches advise their members to remain within their denomination.
These traditions can be confusing, especially for newcomers. Someone who just joined a church may begin to think that following these traditions is what qualifies a person for heaven. Though they may appear moral, many of these traditions are created by humans—to control humans.
Church members are expected to comply with these traditions. Anyone who chooses to live outside them is often regarded as unrighteous. Meanwhile, in other churches where such traditions do not exist, those same things are not even considered issues. This is why the Church is still debating matters like women wearing trousers, earrings, covering of hair, and so on.
Conclusion:
These traditions have become a modern-day version of the Law—where people are pressured to look a certain way, walk a certain way, talk a certain way, and even eat a certain way, all in an attempt to appear righteous.
